Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support and care to individuals with varying needs, ensuring their safety, well-being, and quality of life. You will work closely with clients to assist them in daily living activities, promote independence, and enhance their overall experience. This position requires a strong commitment to patient care and the ability to build trusting relationships. Responsibilities Assist clients with daily living activities, including meal preparation, personal hygiene, and medication management. Provide companionship and emotional support to individuals, fostering a positive environment. Monitor patients' health and well-being, reporting any changes or concerns to appropriate personnel. Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's specific needs. Engage clients in social activities and encourage participation in community events. Maintain accurate records of client progress and document any significant observations. Ensure a safe and clean living environment by performing housekeeping tasks as needed (i.e. cleaning bathrooms, bedrooms, dishes, and laundry) Skills Strong background in caregiving or direct support roles, with experience in home health or long-term care settings preferred. Knowledge of dementia care techniques and memory care strategies is highly beneficial. Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients, families, and team members. Ability to demonstrate patience and empathy while providing care for individuals with diverse needs. Familiarity with social work principles can enhance the quality of support provided. Competence in patient monitoring to ensure the health and safety of clients at all times. Culinary skills for meal preparation are an asset in providing nutritious food options for clients.
