Assistant Cook / DSP roles (secondary need in Salem, IL) About the Role Our 16-bed ICF/DD residential homes provide structured, person-centered support where staff work together to promote independence, dignity, and daily living skills. This is a hands-on caregiving role in a team-based environment. DSP Responsibilities Assist individuals with daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, hygiene) Support independence and personal goals Follow individualized service plans Document care and report changes in condition or behavior Provide supervision, safety support, and positive behavioral guidance Participate in activities and community engagement Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive home environment Assist with medication administration (if certified) Work as part of a supportive care team Assistant Cook / DSP Responsibilities (Food service support + direct care duties) Prepare meals, snacks, and assist with food prep Plate and serve meals to residents Support residents during mealtimes (feeding assistance if needed) Follow menus, dietary guidelines, and modified diets Maintain kitchen cleanliness and food safety standards Assist with kitchen inventory and supplies Provide DSP support as needed throughout the shift (supervision, assistance, daily routines)
