Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team in providing exceptional care and support to individuals with diverse needs. Duties Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including personal care, grooming, dressing, and mobility support using manual handling techniques such as Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods. Monitor patient health by taking vital signs, observing for changes in condition, and documenting findings accurately in care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations. Administer medications and manage medication schedules following prescribed instructions and safety protocols. Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs, assist with meal consumption, and maintain cleanliness in dining areas. Support residents during community outings or transportation needs, ensuring safe and timely arrival at appointments or activities. Engage residents through meaningful activities that promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and emotional well-being, including experience working with individuals with autism or neurodevelopmental disorders. Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing regular cleaning duties, infection control practices, and ensuring compliance with health standards such as First Aid and CPR certifications. Qualifications Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred. Demonstrated ability to observe patients carefully, monitor vital signs, and recognize signs of distress or health deterioration. Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care strategies, and hospice or palliative care principles. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or intellectual disabilities support is advantageous. Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and collaboration with team members; familiarity with social work principles is a plus. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using proper patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts; manual handling skills are essential. Valid certifications in First Aid and CPR; ongoing training in HIPAA compliance and patient safety standards is expected.
