Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) Timber View Wellness Center - Living Room Program Marion, Illinois | 24/7 Crisis Center Job Overview Timber View Wellness Center is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) to join the peer support team in our new 24/7 Living Room Crisis Center . The Living Room provides a welcoming, community-based alternative for adults experiencing a self-defined behavioral health, emotional, mental health, or substance use crisis. Our goal is to provide a safe, supportive environment where guests can receive immediate support, regain stability, and connect with appropriate resources. The CRSS provides non-clinical, recovery-focused peer support , using lived experience appropriately to promote hope, empowerment, resilience, and connection. Essential Duties Welcome and support guests experiencing emotional distress or crisis. Provide active listening, encouragement, mentoring, advocacy, and peer support. Appropriately share lived recovery experience to promote hope and connection. Help guests identify strengths, coping skills, supports, and recovery goals. Provide crisis support and assist with de-escalation and safety planning. Connect guests with mental health, substance use, housing, medical, and community resources. Support appropriate diversion from emergency services when guests can be safely supported within the Living Room setting. Collaborate with the Living Room multidisciplinary team. Facilitate recovery-focused activities and support guest engagement. Complete accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR). Maintain professional boundaries and follow HIPAA, confidentiality, safety, and agency policies. Participate in supervision, staff meetings, and required training. Qualifications Active Illinois CRSS credential required. Personal recovery experience and ability to appropriately use lived experience in a professional peer-support role. Knowledge of peer support, recovery principles, trauma-informed care, and harm reduction. Experience supporting individuals with mental health and/or substance use challenges preferred. Knowledge of crisis support and de-escalation. Strong communication, teamwork, and documentation skills. Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Ability to work in a 24/7 crisis-support environment and complete required Living Room Program training.
