Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team, providing essential care and assistance to individuals with diverse needs. Duties Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal care, grooming, dressing, and mobility support using manual handling techniques such as Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods. Monitor residents' health by taking vital signs, observing for changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately while adhering to HIPAA privacy regulations. Support medication administration and ensure compliance with care plans under supervision or as trained. Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs and assist residents with meal consumption to promote proper nutrition. Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing cleaning duties, laundry, and organizing resident spaces. Provide companionship and emotional support, fostering a positive atmosphere that encourages independence and dignity. Assist with transportation for appointments or community outings using personal transportation assistance. Document resident progress, update care plans regularly, and communicate effectively with team members regarding resident needs. Assist individual in a work setting, teaching and training work skills. Requirements Knowledge of patient observation techniques, and autism spectrum disorder support. Familiarity with patient monitoring tools such as Hoyer lifts, vital signs measurement, medication administration, CPR/First Aid certification required, we have a certified CPR/First Aid trainer. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus, but not required . Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and assist with manual handling tasks. Strong communication skills for effective interaction with residents, families, and team members. Commitment to maintaining HIPAA compliance and respecting resident confidentiality.
