Cat Care Coordinator Primary Accountability:
The Kitten Care Assistant is responsible for providing care and support to all kittens at HHHS. The position will monitor all kittens daily to assess their weights, habits and overall health. The position also provides vaccinations and minor medical treatments to the kittens as well as enrichment and other means of behavioral support.
Major Duties:
Monitor the quantity of daily food consumption; attempt different interventions (supplemental feeding, assisted weaning, etc.) for kittens who are hesitant to eat
Weigh kittens daily and document all weights; report any kittens who are losing weight or not gaining weight to the Cat Care Coordinator
Document any observations regarding feeding schedules, habits, fecal texture and developmental benchmarks
Complete boosters daily; monitor and report any medical concerns; clean ears and treat for ear mites; provide grooming or make note of kittens who need grooming; complete medical treatments daily as directed by the veterinarian
Meet with neonatal kitten fosters to answer questions, provide information on general kitten care and demonstrate appropriate feeding/stimulation techniques
Provide daytime daycare services for neonatal fosters who cannot take their kittens to work with them; coordinate drop-off and pick-up times with the fosters; weigh, observe and document the overall health of any kitten in daycare
Keep Kitten Kampus and other kitten kennels in presentable condition by cleaning up messes, changing litter, hanging new kennel card holders, sweeping the floor, and cleaning windows; ensure all stainless steel kennels have a Kuranda bed or Cat Cave; clean and disinfect kennels using appropriate tools and chemicals
Provide daily socialization and enrichment activities for all kittens including those considered undersocialized
Restock all needed supplies such as blankets and toys; help wash and dry all dishes/bowls; put all clean dishes away in designated cabinets or locations
Communicate any concerns or changes in animal behavior or health in a timely manner to coworkers, supervisors or other departments Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the organization's discretion
Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent required. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with staff. Ability to work efficiently with attention to details and quality of work produced. Ability to exercise good judgment in setting priorities and organization of work load. Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work-related issues and problems.
Physical Demands:
Ability to safely push, pull and lift up to 25 pounds.
Ability to operate power equipment.
Ability to work at heights utilizing ladders, scaffolding and power lifts.
Work Environment:
Interaction with staff and customers . Potential exposure to parasites and infectious diseases that may be carried and transmitted by animals.
