18/hour | Full-Time or Part-Time | Monday-Friday | Flexible Schedule Make a Difference with KDC The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides hands-on support to individuals with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities in the Community-Based Day Supports (CBDS) program. This role helps participants develop life skills, build independence, and engage in meaningful community activities. The DSP ensures a safe, inclusive environment while implementing individualized service plans and collaborating closely with the Program Team Lead to meet agency and regulatory standards. Participant Support & Engagement Support individuals in daily activities that foster independence, skill development, and community inclusion. Assist participants in achieving personal goals identified in their Individualized Service Plans (ISPs). Provide guidance in social, communication, and self-advocacy skills. Accompany participants on community outings and encourage participation in recreational, volunteering and vocational opportunities. Safely provide transportation to and from the program center and community activities in a professional and courteous manner, ensuring the comfort and safety of all passengers This may involve the use of a personal vehicle when a KDC vehicle is not available. Health, Safety & Compliance Ensure the health and safety of participants by following all agency, state, and federal guidelines. Support individuals with personal care needs, as required (e.g., assistance with mobility or hygiene). Monitor and report any incidents, behavioral changes, or safety concerns to the Program Team Lead. Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including attendance records, progress notes, and incident reports. Collaboration & Communication Work collaboratively with the Program Team Lead and other staff to provide consistent, high-quality support. Communicate professionally and respectfully with participants, families, guardians, and community partners. Participate in team meetings, training, and professional development activities. Perform other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Prior experience supporting individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities or in a similar human services role. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive, respectful relationships. Ability to follow individualized plans and provide person-centered support. Ability to complete and maintain CPR/FA and SafetyCare certifications. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Working Environment This position is community-based and requires travel to homes and community settings. Candidates must be comfortable working in a variety of environments and utilizing technology for documentation and communication. Ready to Make an Impact?
