$37.3977-$45.7018 starting pay based upon experience, plus benefits. Assists the Director of Assessing in developing and maintaining timely and accurate property records and uniform, full value market assessments of all real and personal property according to the laws of the Commonwealth, regulations and directives of the DOR and standard appraisal practices. Assists the Director of Assessing and Board of Assessors in a variety of technical and administrative support functions related to the fair and accurate appraisal of property. Works with the Treasurer/Collector and the Town Accountant to submit warrants and commitments for motor vehicle & boat excise tax and real estate & personal property tax. Receives applications for abatement of taxes, investigates and reviews applications. Works to a resolution of value. Adjusts values as necessary according to accepted assessment and appraisal principles.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's degree in business administration or related field plus three years of office experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor's degree preferred. Certification as Massachusetts Accredited Assessor or able to obtain within two years of hire. Experience in both private and municipal setting desired. Courses in property tax law and assessment administration are a plus.
