Overview Join our dedicated team as a Direct Support Professional (ASL) and make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. In this vital role, you will provide personalized support, fostering independence, safety, and well-being through compassionate caregiving and skill development. This position offers an engaging opportunity to empower clients in their daily routines and community participation while working in a dynamic, supportive environment. All roles are paid positions, emphasizing the value of your contribution from day one. Responsibilities Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, and mobility to promote independence and dignity. Support clients in communication using American Sign Language (ASL) or other preferred methods to facilitate effective interaction and social engagement. Implement behavior management strategies tailored to individual needs to encourage positive behaviors and emotional regulation. Provide transportation assistance using a standard passenger car for appointments, community outings, or errands, ensuring safety and reliability. Collect data on client progress, behaviors, and skill development to inform care plans and support team collaboration. Administer medication following prescribed protocols when trained and authorized to do so, ensuring safety and compliance. Collaborate with families, social services, behavioral health professionals, and educational teams to create comprehensive support plans that meet each client's unique needs. Skills Experience working with individuals with autism, neurodevelopmental disorders, or disabilities in home or community settings. Knowledge of special education principles and behavioral health practices for supporting clients with cognitive disabilities. Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) to enhance communication with clients who are deaf or hard of hearing. Strong understanding of behavior management techniques and client-centered care strategies. Ability to operate a standard passenger car safely for personal transportation assistance. Experience with caregiving tasks such as assisting with ADLs, medication administration, and child or adult supervision. Excellent communication skills for effective client interaction, documentation, and teamwork in social services environments. First aid and CPR certification to ensure safety during emergencies. Familiarity with data collection methods related to client progress and behavioral observations.
