Job Description
Overview Join our dedicated team as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) and make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities, cognitive impairments, or aging-related needs. In this vital role, you will provide compassionate, personalized care that promotes independence, safety, and well-being. Whether supporting residents in residential care homes, assisted living facilities, or community-based settings, you'll be at the forefront of fostering a nurturing environment where clients thrive. This paid position offers an opportunity to develop your caregiving skills while positively impacting lives every day. Responsibilities Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to ensure health stability Support residents with medication administration following proper protocols and documentation procedures Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive interactions and reduce challenging behaviors Operate manual handling equipment like Hoyer lifts and perform safe patient lifting practices to prevent injury Prepare meals in accordance with dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks and adhering to infection control standards Communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members to ensure comprehensive care plans are followed Follow resident's rights policies to promote dignity, respect, and autonomy for all individuals served Requirements Prior experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or home & community care settings is highly desirable Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, geriatrics, and behavioral management techniques Ability to assist with ADLs and provide personal care with compassion and professionalism Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; ongoing training preferred Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or cognitive impairments is a plus Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks safely Valid driver's license for standard passenger car operation if required for client transportation Strong communication skills to effectively engage with clients and team members Commitment to respecting residents' rights and promoting a supportive environment Join us in creating a caring community where every individual feels valued and empowered.
