Full Job Description Job Description:
Affinity Quality Living LLC is currently seeking a dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to become an integral part of our team. As a DSP, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the health, safety, and protection of the rights of each individual under our care. You will be responsible for implementing personalized service and support plans tailored to the unique needs of each individual at Affinity Quality Living, both in community and residential settings. •Current shift times/days available include: Monday - Thursday (3PM-11PM)•
Job Duties:
Assist individuals with daily activities such as personal hygiene, dressing, and grooming (ADLs). Provide companionship and emotional support. Administer medication according to prescribed schedules. Monitor and record vital signs as needed. Implement behavior management strategies. Assist with meal planning, preparation, and feeding. Maintain a clean and safe living environment. Provide transportation for appointments and outings. Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to ensure individualized care plans are followed.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in human services, psychology, or related field preferred. Previous experience working with individuals with serious mental health illnesses, developmental disabilities, autism, or dementia preferred. Knowledge of senior care practices and techniques. Ability to lift and transfer individuals as needed. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Patience, empathy, and compassion for others. Ability to handle challenging behaviors in a calm and professional manner. Flexibility to work varying shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Travel is necessary. The individual working in the position is required to perform job duties that will put them at risk of exposure to communicable diseases including blood-borne pathogens.
Other Requirements:
Age 18 or older Valid driver's license Pass Minnesota Department of Human Services background check Complete a minimum of 24 hours of annual training.
