Personal Care Assistants help clients maintain their comfort, dignity, safety, and independence by providing personal care and assistance with routine household activities. Before being assigned to a client, employees must complete required orientation and demonstrate competency to the supervising Registered Nurse. Compensation $14.00-$17.00 per hour, depending on relevant experience and qualifications. Key Responsibilities Services will be provided according to each client's Plan of Care and may include: Assist clients with bathing, showering, grooming, dressing, and other personal-hygiene activities. Provide light housekeeping, laundry, and meal preparation. Run approved errands for clients. Provide companionship and engage clients in appropriate activities, including reading and conversation. Observe and promptly report changes in a client's condition or needs to the supervising nursing staff. Maintain open and professional communication with clients, families, office staff, and members of the care team. Treat every client with dignity, courtesy, patience, and respect. Protect client privacy and maintain confidentiality. Follow the client's Plan of Care and all agency policies and procedures. Work cooperatively with other community providers involved in the client's care, as directed by the RN Supervisor or Agency Director. Perform only those duties that are permitted by the program, the client's Plan of Care, and the employee's demonstrated competencies. Follow applicable health, safety, infection-control, and employment requirements. Required Qualifications Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. Genuine interest in supporting and caring for others. Dependable, compassionate, respectful, and professional demeanor. Ability to work independently while accepting direction and supervision. Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality. Ability to work effectively with clients, families, agency personnel, and community partners. Willingness to work with clients from a variety of backgrounds and lifestyles. Valid North Carolina driver's license. Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to clients' homes. Reliable telephone or other approved means of communication. Ability to provide professional references. Ability to attend required new-hire orientation and competency training. Ability to successfully complete all required criminal background and registry checks. Must not be listed on the North Carolina Health Care Personnel Registry with a substantiated finding. Physical and Work Requirements Ability to perform the essential duties of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to safely assist clients according to their individual Plans of Care. Ability to work efficiently in clients' homes and respond appropriately in stressful situations. Ability to travel to and from clients' residences in routine weather and driving conditions. Supervision The Personal Care Assistant is supervised by the nursing staff of Enhancement Home Care.
