We are looking for a professional, compassionate, and dependable Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) who genuinely cares about the people they serve and understands the value of meeting clients where they are. Position Summary The Certified Peer Support Specialist will use their personal recovery experience, professional training, and knowledge of community resources to provide support, encouragement, advocacy, and assistance to individuals working toward their personal goals. The ideal candidate is someone who has a heart for their clients , communicates effectively, pays close attention to detail, and demonstrates leadership through their actions. This position requires someone who is punctual, dependable, professional, and able to build trusting relationships while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries. Key Responsibilities Provide peer support, encouragement, and mentorship to individuals receiving services. Build positive, trusting, and professional relationships with clients. Support individuals experiencing mental health challenges and/or substance use recovery. Assist clients involved in reentry and the transition back into the community. Help individuals identify and connect with housing, healthcare, behavioral health, employment, and other community resources. Advocate for clients and help them navigate available services and resources. Encourage clients to identify and work toward personal recovery and life goals. Provide support during challenging situations while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services provided. Communicate effectively with clients, coworkers, supervisors, and community partners. Protect client confidentiality and follow organizational policies and procedures. Attend required meetings, trainings, and other professional development activities. Demonstrate leadership, reliability, accountability, and professionalism in all interactions. Perform other duties related to client support as assigned. Required Qualifications Current North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) certification. Current First Aid certification . Current CPR certification . Current Blood Born Pathogens Current NCI Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to maintain professional boundaries and client confidentiality. Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Reliable transportation and ability to travel within the community as required. Ability to maintain punctuality and dependable attendance.
