Job Description

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated, patient, and proactive Behavior Support Staff member to provide 1:1 support
ON WEEKENDS
for an autistic male in his home and community. The primary goal is to foster independence, enhance quality of life, and implement behavioral intervention plans to reduce challenging behaviors and increase adaptive, positive behaviors.
Key Responsibilities:
Behavior Management:
Implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) developed by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or similar professional. Member has Pica and must be prevented from eating inedible objects.
De-escalation:
Proactively identify triggers and apply approved de-escalation techniques to manage physical or emotional outbursts (e.g., hitting, kicking, self-injury).
Data Collection:
Maintain accurate daily documentation, including logging behavioral incidents, tracking skill acquisition, and collecting data on target behaviors.
Skill Teaching:
Utilize Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles (reinforcement, prompting) to teach self-help, communication, and social skills.
Routine Structure:
Provide consistent structure and supervision to minimize anxiety and prevent safety risks during transitions.
Community Integration:
Safely accompany the individual in the community, providing support for social interactions and reducing environmental stressors.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Experience:
Previous experience working with individuals with autism, particularly those with significant behavioral, emotional, or communication challenges.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED;
Physical Demands:
Ability to sit or stand for long periods, bend at the waist, kneel, or crouch, and lift/move up to 25 pounds.
Soft Skills:
High patience level, empathy, reliability, and the ability to remain calm under extreme stress.
Working Conditions:
This position involves working in a fast-paced environment and may be subject to physical outbursts.
Job Type:
Part-time Pay:
$15.00 - $20.00 per hour
