As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities or special needs. Your primary responsibility will be to provide respectful and compassionate support to individuals through the day program. The Arc of Hunterdon County is seeking Direct Support Professionals to support individuals through our adult day program Day Shifts (8:30am to 4pm) including one weekend shift - Full-Time No experience necessary, but experienced DSPs are always welcome. Comprehensive paid training is provided. Job Overview This position requires a dedicated individual who is committed to fostering independence and promoting dignity for those you serve. The DSP plays a vital role in providing support and assistance to individuals with disabilities or special needs, ensuring they lead fulfilling lives within their communities. This position requires a strong commitment to promoting independence, dignity, and respect for the individuals we serve.

Some responsibilities include:

Facilitate social interactions and community engagement by organizing meaningful community activities and helping individuals engage in social and recreational activities in the local community Support individuals in developing life skills and achieving personal goals through tailored programs Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and medication management. Provide support in maintaining a clean and safe environment Collaborate with individuals, families, other support staff, and supervisors Implement service plans tailored to each individual's needs Provide respectful support while adhering to privacy regulations Assist individuals with mobility, including lifting and transferring when necessary Document daily activities and any changes individuals experience Requirements High School diploma or equivalent Valid driver's license with five or fewer points Willingness to undergo required background checks Must be over 18 years of age Skills Experience in assisting individuals with disabilities or special needs or a strong commitment to learn is preferred Experience in social work or related fields is highly valued. Knowledge of first aid practices to ensure the safety of clients. Familiarity with day program settings and memory care principles is beneficial. Commitment to upholding rights and dignity of people receiving services at all time.
