Earn an additional $2.00 per hour for shifts beginning Friday at 11pm through Sunday at 11pm!• Everas Community Services, Inc. has been providing community-based services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities for more than 40 years. Our extensive experience includes services for people across a spectrum of abilities and specialized needs including people who are deaf-blind, deaf, or blind, people with intensive medical and behavioral support needs, and people with autism spectrum disorder. Join our team of professional staff committed to providing support services with care, quality, and respect throughout nine counties in NJ. Summary Provide the direct support adults with disabilities need to participate in daily life in communities throughout NJ. A Direct Support Professional provides caring, hands-on assistance with all daily living needs while encouraging people to learn new skills that maximize their potential for independence. This includes personal hygiene, medication administration, daily household activities, workplace readiness skills, recreation activities, and support and advocacy in the community. DSPs work in our Residential and Day Program settings with varied responsibilities. Our clients have varied ability levels and support needs and are interdependent on our DSP staff to ensure their health, safety, and wellbeing 24 hours a day/seven days a week.
Overall Duties:
Daily direct living support at home, at day program, and in the community Model and support people to develop daily living skills, leisure skills, socialization skills, adaptive behavior skills, and workplace readiness skills, to increase independence Follow medical and behavioral support protocols for people with intensive needs Provide transportation to and from activities including recreation, employment, medical appointments Household duties including cleaning, cooking, bathing, laundry Documentation of all services in accordance with state and federal regulations Communication with family members
Job Requirements:
Minimum age, 18 HS Diploma or Equivalent Driver's license with no more than two moving violations w/in three years. Physical including tuberculosis screening. Mandatory five-day orientation and professional skills training at agency headquarters in Somerset, NJ; Ability to pass and maintain required trainings including CPR/SFA; medication administration, and positive behavioral support training. Basic computer skills. Ability to provide mobility support and physical transfers Comfort with hands on hygiene support/total care of people with physical support needs. Strong interpersonal communication, problem solving, and writing skill.
