In Person About the Role Achieve Academy for Adults is seeking dependable and compassionate Substitute Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide coverage within our DDD-approved Day Habilitation program in Wall Township. This is a flexible, as-needed position that is ideal for individuals who want to work around another schedule, including students, retirees, part-time professionals, and individuals pursuing careers in education, human services, behavioral health, or related fields. As a Substitute DSP, you will step in to support our regular staff and help maintain a safe, engaging, and consistent experience for the individuals we serve. You will work directly with adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD), helping participants build independence, practice daily living skills, participate in activities, and engage with their community. Responsibilities Provide respectful, person-centered support to participants throughout the program day. Assist with daily living and personal care needs, including grooming, hygiene, dressing, eating, and other ADLs when required. Encourage participants to develop independence and participate as actively as possible in their daily routines. Support social, communication, behavioral, and independent living skill development. Follow established behavior support strategies and use positive reinforcement when appropriate. Participate in classroom, recreational, educational, vocational, and community-based activities. Assist with community outings and transportation responsibilities when assigned. Follow all required safety procedures while supporting participants in the facility and community. Assist with medication-related responsibilities when applicable and permitted under program policies and procedures. Observe participant progress and accurately collect information and data related to individual goals and behaviors. Complete required daily documentation and communicate relevant information to the regular program team. Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and welcoming environment. Work cooperatively with DSPs, Program Instructors, clinical staff, and leadership to provide continuity of support. Adapt quickly to different participant needs, activities, and program assignments. Qualifications Previous experience working with individuals with I/DD, autism, developmental disabilities, or behavioral health needs is preferred. High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record. Ability to successfully complete required background checks and employment screenings. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to remain patient, professional, and composed in a busy program environment. Ability to follow individualized support strategies, safety procedures, and program policies. Experience with documentation, data collection, or behavior support is a plus.
