FirstLight Home Care of Metuchen & Clark is looking to add Certified Home Health Aides for short shifts — typically 4 to 5 hours, three to five days a week , with consistent clients and a consistent schedule. This is built for aides who already have something going on. If you work weekdays at a facility and want weekend hours, if you're picking up per-diem work between assignments, if you're in school, or if you're semi-retired and want a few steady mornings a week — this is the shape of work you've probably had trouble finding. What we won't do: call you at random, send you somewhere different every week, or give you a 2-hour shift that isn't worth the drive. Every shift is a minimum of four hours. That's a rule, not a preference. What you'll do Provide personal care and assistance with daily activities — bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting Prepare meals and handle light housekeeping Provide medication reminders (no administering — this is non-medical care) Support safe mobility and help reduce fall risk Provide genuine companionship and conversation Note changes in condition and report them to the care team Clock in and out and document care in our smartphone scheduling app What we're looking for Active New Jersey CHHA (Certified Homemaker-Home Health Aide) certification — required A consistent, repeatable block of availability — the same days each week, not scattered one-offs 18 or older; legally authorized to work in the U.S. Able to pass a background check and required health screenings (including TB) Reliable transportation — most of our towns are car-dependent with limited transit Dependable and communicative. If something comes up, you tell us early. Comfortable using a smartphone app for scheduling and care notes Nice to have You live in or near Rahway, Clark, Linden, Carteret, Woodbridge, Colonia, Perth Amboy, Elizabeth, or Metuchen You're currently working elsewhere as an aide, CNA, or DSP — that's a plus here, not a problem Prior home care, private-duty, assisted living, or hospital aide experience CPR / First Aid certification Dementia or Parkinson's support experience Weekend or early-evening availability — our hardest slots to fill, and we pay accordingly Schedule & pay Shifts are 4 to 5 hours. Four hours is our minimum — we never schedule shorter. Typically 3 to 5 days per week per client , on a set schedule you can plan around Roughly 12 to 20 hours per week on one client. Aides who want more can take a second client as cases open up. $19.00-$22.00 per hour , based on experience and shift type Premium rates for weekend shifts W-2 employment — taxes withheld, workers' compensation coverage, real payroll Why FirstLight Real W-2 employment — not 1099, not gig work.
