Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide community-based support to individuals with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities (IDD). The DSP will assist the individual in achieving personal goals, accessing community resources, building social connections, and enhancing daily living skills in a respectful and empowering manner.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct, individualized support in community settings Assist with daily living skills, including social skills, transportation, and safety awareness Encourage independence and self-advocacy in line with the individual's person-centered plan Implement support strategies and behavioral plans as needed Accurately document daily activities, progress, and incidents Communicate effectively with team members, families, and supervisors Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality at all times Monitor health and safety, and respond to emergencies appropriately
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required Must be CPR and First Aid certified (or willing to obtain prior to start) Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance if using person vehicle Ability to pass background checks Experience working with individuals with IDD preferred but not required Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills Comfortable working independently in community-based settings Must be dependable, flexible, and committed to person-centered values

Part-time position Flexible scheduling; may include some weekends or evenings based on individual needs

$15.00- $17.00 per hour Mileage reimbursement and training provided

This position is community based and stationed in individuals homes. Are you comfortable working in individuals homes? Tell us if you've done something similar. This role requires someone who has excellent attendance. You will have the ability create your own schedule initially but once committed to a schedule, the individuals do not like changes or last minute call offs. Tell us about your attendance and time management strategies. We have some individuals who require medical supports, like lifting and transferring to a bed or wheelchair. Are you comfortable with heavy lifting? We have some individuals who have dual diagnoses. Intellectual disabilities and mental health disorders. Do you have experience with individuals with depression or schizophrenia?
