Job Overview Join our dynamic emergency veterinary team as an Animal Care Assistant and become a vital part of providing lifesaving care and support to our animal patients. In this energetic role, you will assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians in delivering high-quality medical treatment, ensuring animals' comfort, and maintaining a safe and clean environment. You will receive on the job training to support skill development and experience-based knowledge of pets anatomy, physiology, animal handles, pharmacology, basic life support, husbandry and much more. Your enthusiasm for animal welfare and attention to detail will help create a positive experience for both animals and clients alike. This paid position offers a rewarding opportunity to develop your skills in animal handling, clinical procedures, and client communication within a compassionate veterinary setting. Duties Assist with animal handling, restraint, and pet care to ensure safety during examinations, treatments, and surgeries Support veterinary technicians with procedures such as IV catheterization, venipuncture, medication administration, and surgical assistance Maintain cleanliness of kennels, treatment areas, and surgical suites through thorough cleaning and sanitation practices Record detailed patient information including medical history and treatment notes in accordance with clinic protocols Help monitor animal behavior and physiology to ensure high level of care throughout pets stay. Communicate effectively with clients about pet care instructions, treatment plans, and post-operative care Assist in cleaning medical facility and stocking necessary veterinary supplies. Support front desk activities by managing appointments, updating records, and assisting with client inquiries Skills preferred Prior kennel experience or veterinary clinic experience demonstrating familiarity with animal husbandry and handling/restraint techniques Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and basic medical procedures Experience with medication administration, record keeping, and understanding of veterinary critical care practices Ability to use personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly to ensure safety for animals and staff Excellent communication skills for engaging with clients and coworker professionally and compassionately Demonstrated ability to perform cleaning duties efficiently while maintaining high standards of hygiene This role is perfect for motivated individuals passionate about animal welfare who want to grow their expertise in veterinary medicine. Pay:
$18.00 - $22.00 per hour Expected hours: 20.0 - 40.0 per week
