YAI is seeking aspiring Direct Support Professionals to provide life changing support on our Residential New Rochelle Programs. Entry-Level Positions Available! Opportunities for Growth! (Full and Part-time positions!) Hiring managers will be conducting (in-person) interviews at this event. What is a Direct Support Professional? Direct Support Professionals (DSP's) work with people of all ages with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). The goal of a DSP is to help people with disabilities achieve the fullest lives possible by assisting them in areas and activities that promote self-sufficiency. DSP's work mainly consists of teaching life and job skills to people with I/DD in their individual residence, group home, or out in the community. This can include cooking, implementing non-medical health care suggestions, job coaching, home care, assisting with activities of daily living, and transportation .Successful DSPs demonstrate the following traits and abilities:> Empathy > Accountability > Time management > Interpersonal skills > Effective communication > Works well within a team > Patience > Detail oriented > Creativity > Problem solving. High School Diploma or GED is preferred. No prior experience is required to become a DSP at YAI. Valid Driver's License is required for most shifts. All job-specific training will be conducted at YAI offices or on site at the individual programs. Full-time and Part-time positions are available.
