Role:

Essence Services Inc is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional's (DSP) to join our growing team in Akron, OH! This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities by providing personalized care and support. Responsibilities:

Provide direct care and daily living support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) Assist clients with personal hygiene, grooming, meal preparation, and household tasks Implement individualized support plans (ISPs) and document progress accurately Transport and accompany clients to medical appointments, community activities, and errands Encourage client independence, skill-building, and community integration Communicate effectively with supervisors, family members, and care team members Respond appropriately to behavioral challenges using approved techniques and protocols

Requirements:

High school diploma or GED required Prior experience as a DSP, caregiver, home health aide, or in a related field preferred Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred (no more than 4 points on license) Ability to pass a background check Strong communication, patience, and interpersonal skills Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, or holidays CPR/First Aid certification, Medication Administration (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
