Direct Support Professional Job description Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) are people who directly with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes and in their community, The DSP is responsible to provide direct services including, not limited to: assisting in maintaining a clean, safe living environment, meal preparation and completion of various household tasks: supervising, teaching, and assisting the individual in every aspect of their life, with the goals of fostering increased independence, choice and empowerment. A DSP may provide transportation and supports to a individual at home, work, school, church, and other community places. A DSP is also an advocate, helping people in communicating needs, self-expression, and goals as well as assuring in justice and equality in community life. Direct Support professional Specific Job Duties respect individual rights and confidentiality. be a role model, promote teamwork and help to make a positive work living environment. Read, know, and implement individuals service plan, documenting as required. remain alert to individuals' behavior/physical changes and notify a supervisor. Report all medical information to nurses and follow nurses' directions. Assist with daily living needs, including but not limited to: nutrition, meals, hygiene, exercise, housekeeping, communication, and socialization skills. Additional Requirements Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid (CPR) Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking with attention to dietary constraints. Willing to adhere to rules and regulations. Physical endurance. High school diploma or equivalent.

Pay:

$17.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
