Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide high-quality care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, cognitive impairments, and age-related conditions. Duties Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, ensuring dignity and respect at all times. Monitor vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rates to support health assessments and communicate changes to healthcare professionals. Provide medication administration following prescribed protocols while maintaining accurate documentation. Support residents with memory care needs, including Alzheimer's disease and dementia care, utilizing specialized techniques to reduce confusion and agitation. Engage residents in recreational activities, socialization, and therapeutic exercises that promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being. Practice safe patient lifting techniques and manual handling procedures to prevent injuries for both residents and staff. Maintain cleanliness of living environments by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning common areas and personal spaces. Document daily observations, behavioral changes, and care provided accurately in resident records. Foster positive communication with clients, families, and team members to ensure coordinated care plans are followed effectively. Qualifications Prior experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or residential care homes is highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to assist with ADLs and provide personal care with compassion and professionalism. Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care strategies, and geriatrics is essential. Certification in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and First Aid is required; ongoing training is preferred. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or cognitive impairments is advantageous. Familiarity with medication administration protocols and safe patient lifting practices is necessary. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations including seniors and persons with disabilities. Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary while adhering to safety guidelines for manual handling. Valid driver's license for standard passenger car operation may be required depending on the role's scope of transportation needs.
