Job Description

Job Summary The Nia Project is seeking a dependable and compassionate employee to serve in a combined role as an Adult Day Support Direct Support Professional and Transportation Driver. The employee will complete assigned morning pickups, work in our adult day program during the day, and complete assigned afternoon drop-offs. This position requires someone who is punctual, safety-conscious, patient, organized, and comfortable supporting adults with developmental disabilities. Pay Structure This position has two hourly rates based on the duties performed:
  • $20.00 per hour for authorized transportation duties, including vehicle inspections, passenger loading and unloading, driving, securement when applicable, and required transportation documentation.
  • $16.00 per hour while performing Adult Day Support duties at the program or during ADS community activities. The employee must accurately record transportation and ADS hours using the agency's approved timekeeping system. Transportation Responsibilities
  • Complete assigned morning pickups and afternoon drop-offs safely and on time.
  • Follow approved routes, transportation plans, and pickup and drop-off instructions.
  • Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Assist individuals with safely entering and exiting the vehicle.
  • Ensure passengers use seat belts and approved securement systems.
  • Maintain active supervision and never leave an individual unattended in a vehicle.
  • Check the entire vehicle after each route.
  • Complete transportation logs, mileage records, and other required documentation.
  • Immediately report accidents, delays, vehicle problems, behavioral concerns, or unusual incidents.
  • Keep the agency vehicle clean, fueled, smoke-free, and ready for use. Adult Day Support Responsibilities
  • Provide respectful, person-centered support based on each individual's ISP and identified needs.
  • Maintain active supervision and promote health, safety, dignity, rights, independence, and community inclusion.
  • Assist with meals, personal care, mobility, communication, and behavioral support when trained and authorized.
  • Lead or assist with crafts, cooking activities, exercise, games, outings, and skill-building activities.
  • Observe and report changes in an individual's health, behavior, mood, or support needs.
  • Complete attendance records, daily service documentation, progress notes, and incident reports.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming program environment.
  • Communicate professionally with individuals, families, guardians, coworkers, and other authorized team members. Required Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have a valid Ohio driver's license.
  • Must have a Bureau of Motor Vehicles driving record with five points or fewer during the preceding 24 months.
  • Must meet the agency's automobile-insurance and driver-eligibility requirements.
  • Must satisfactorily complete an Ohio BCI criminal-record check and an FBI check when required.
  • Must successfully clear all required DODD database and employment screenings.
  • Must enroll and remain enrolled in RAPBACK as required.
  • Must complete required DSP, ADS, transportation, defensive-driving, First Aid and CPR, individual-specific, rights, confidentiality, and incident-reporting training.
  • Must be able to read and follow service plans and complete written or electronic documentation accurately.
  • Must be dependable, punctual, patient, professional, and able to remain calm during emergencies or challenging situations.
  • Previous experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities, older adults, or individuals with behavioral or mobility needs is preferred.
  • Current DODD Medication Administration Category 1 certification is a plus. Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit and drive for assigned periods.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout the program day.
  • Ability to assist individuals with mobility and personal-care needs within the employee's training and the individual's authorized plan.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
