In this role, you will support residents in their daily activities, promote independence, and ensure a safe and nurturing environment. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those you serve by delivering personalized care within home, community, or facility settings. The Direct Support Professional is responsible for the direct care, safety, hygiene, and welfare of each resident living in the home in accordance with the resident's Individual Service Plans, and with respect to the dignity and rights of each resident. Responsibilities Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting Provide medication administration and monitor vital signs in accordance with care plans and HIPAA regulations Support residents with mobility needs using equipment such as Hoyer lifts and assist with transfers safely Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning in compliance with dietary guidelines Observe and document patient conditions, including changes in health status or behavior, ensuring accurate record-keeping Implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident's needs, including dementia, Alzheimer's, autism, or other specialized care requirements Engage residents in social activities to promote mental and emotional well-being Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning and sanitation Follow all safety protocols including CPR and First Aid procedures to ensure resident safety at all times Collaborate with healthcare teams, social workers, families, and other caregivers to coordinate comprehensive care Qualifications Prior experience in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care is preferred Age 18 years or older High school diploma or GED Certifications such as CPR and First Aid are highly desirable; willingness to obtain necessary certifications is required Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is advantageous Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary for resident transfers or mobility assistance Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and patient safety awareness Excellent communication skills for working effectively with residents, families, and healthcare teams Compassionate attitude with a commitment to providing respectful and dignified support to all residents This role is vital in delivering compassionate caregiving services that enhance the quality of life for individuals requiring support.
