Job Summary:
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides compassionate, person-centered care and support to adults with developmental disabilities and mental health needs in a community or day program setting. This role focuses on assisting individuals in building life skills, increasing independence, and promoting social and emotional well-being in alignment with each individual's person-centered service plan (ISP)
Responsibilities:
Provide direct care and support with daily living skills, including hygiene, meals, mobility, and medication reminders (non-medical). Implement and follow the Individual Support Plan (ISP) and Behavior Support Plan (BSP) for each client. Assist clients in engaging in meaningful recreational, educational, or vocational activities. Monitor and document clients' progress and behavior daily, reporting any concerns to the supervisor. Support individuals in developing emotional regulation, communication, and social skills. Provide transportation or accompany individuals to community outings, appointments, or other scheduled activities. Ensure a clean, safe, and supportive environment at all times. Encourage clients to reach personal goals by offering guidance, positive reinforcement, and structured routines. Attend and participate in all mandatory trainings and staff meetings. Maintain confidentiality and uphold clients' rights with professionalism and integrity. Follow all agency policies, DODD rules, and applicable state regulations.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required. Must be at least 18 years of age. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (if transporting clients). Ability to pass a background check and drug screen. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or mental health conditions preferred but not required. CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire). Certification in Medication Administration and other DODD trainings (can be provided upon hire if needed).

Patient, empathetic, and adaptable. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Committed to promoting dignity, respect, and inclusion for all individuals served.
Working Conditions:
May involve lifting, transferring, or physical assistance. Must be comfortable with light housekeeping and personal care duties. Work may include evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on client needs.
Job Types:
Full-time, Part-time Pay:
$14.99 - $16.00 per hour
