Job Description

Direct Support Professional (DSP) Henry, Fulton, Williams, and Defiance Counties Napoleon, OH 43545 Filling Homes, 2025 Making a Difference Award Winner, is seeking compassionate, dependable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities across Northwest Ohio, including Napoleon, Defiance, Archbold, Wauseon, Bryan, and West Unity . DSPs provide hands-on support that helps individuals live with dignity, independence, and meaningful connection in their communities. No prior experience is required. Paid training, shadowing, and ongoing support are provided to help you succeed. DSPs have advanced into roles including Team Leader, Residential Supervisor, Program Coordinator, Scheduler, Art Facilitator, Assistant Director, and other leadership positions throughout the organization. What to Expect Many people go to work every day wondering if they are making a difference. Our Direct Support Professionals do not wonder. They know they are. What a DSP does day to day DSPs support individuals with a wide range of daily living needs, which may include: Personal care such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and hygiene support Assistance with meals, mobility, and daily routines Community involvement including errands, appointments, and recreational activities Mobility support including wheelchair assistance, repositioning, and transfers Encouragement, companionship, and emotional support Following individualized care plans and safety procedures This is a hands-on role. Some positions involve physical assistance throughout the day, including transfers, mobility support, and use of mechanical lifting equipment when needed. Transportation may be part of the role, including the use of company vehicles to support individuals in the community. Schedules and Work Environment We hire both full-time and part-time DSP staff. This role is available in both residential settings and day/community programs, depending on location needs. Schedule structure varies by program. First shift is daytime hours, second shift is afternoon and evening hours, and third shift is overnight hours. Some roles are weekday daytime focused, while others include multiple shifts and rotating weekends based on program needs. Depending on your availability, there may be a role that fits your preferences. Staff are typically assigned to one primary location. Additional training at other sites may be available over time based on staffing needs or employee interest. Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred but not required Ability to communicate effectively and follow written and verbal instructions Patience, reliability, and good judgment Willingness to learn and work as part of a team Genuine interest in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities Valid driver's license may be required depending on location Experience in caregiving, healthcare, education, customer service, or similar fields is helpful but not required Some locations may require the ability to assist individuals with swimming activities at our main campus
