Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide exceptional care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, and other special needs. Duties Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, and mobility support using appropriate patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts or manual handling techniques. Monitor patients' health by taking vital signs, observing changes in condition, and reporting findings in accordance with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and compliance. Administer medications accurately following care plans and medication administration protocols while maintaining detailed documentation. Support clients during meal preparation, feeding, and nutrition management to promote healthy eating habits. Provide companionship and emotional support while encouraging participation in community activities or recreational programs. Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties, sanitizing equipment, and ensuring adherence to infection control standards. Follow all safety procedures during patient transfers, heavy lifting, and manual handling to prevent injury for both clients and staff. Skills Proven experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism or dementia. Knowledge of resident's rights, care plans, patient monitoring techniques, and dementia or Alzheimer's care best practices. Strong communication skills for effectively engaging with clients, families, and team members in a respectful manner. Ability to perform first aid and CPR confidently; certification preferred but not required upon hire. Experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly desirable. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure client confidentiality at all times. Physical stamina for heavy lifting, patient transfer methods like Hoyer lifts, and assisting with mobility or transfers safely.
