Job Description
Part-Time Animal Care Assistant Job Type:
Part-time, Hourly Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 8:15 AM - 1:00 PM (approx. 24 hours/week). Occasional weekend shifts required (1-2 hours) to care for boarding cats.
About Us:
The Scratching Post is a dedicated, cat-only veterinary practice focused on providing a calm, low-stress environment for our patients and boarders. We are looking for a reliable and responsible Animal Care Assistant to join our small team. This role is a mix of hands-on feline care, clinic cleanliness, and basic front-desk support.
What You'll Do:

Feline Care & Comfort:
Feed, water, and closely monitor boarding and hospitalized cats according to specific instructions.

Medication Administration:
Safely and accurately administer prescribed medications (oral, topical, or mixed in food) to patients and boarding cats under veterinary supervision.
•
Front Desk Support:
Answer phones professionally, route client calls, take messages, and assist with basic scheduling or check-ins.
•
Facility Cleanliness:
Maintain a pristine, odor-free environment by scooping litter boxes, sweeping, mopping, doing laundry, and disinfecting boarding areas and exam rooms.

Cat Handling:
Safely and gently handle cats when moving them or assisting veterinary staff.
What We Are Looking For:

Handling and Medication :
Comfort and/or prior experience handling cats and administering medications to animals is highly preferred.
•
Customer Service Skills:
A friendly, professional phone manner and a welcoming attitude for our clients.
•
Reliability:
Must be highly dependable and punctual for the 8:15 AM morning shift.
• Attention to
Detail:
Absolute accuracy when reading medication labels and spotting subtle changes in a cat's behavior or appetite.
•
Physical Stamina:
