Job Description

Make a Difference Every Day as a Medical DSP Are you compassionate, detail-oriented, and confident supporting individuals in medical settings? The Epilepsy Center of Northwest Ohio is hiring a Part-Time Medical Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our mission-driven team. In this role, you'll support individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities by ensuring they receive the care, attention, and advocacy they need during medical appointments.
Pay:
$17.00 per hour
Locations:
Lucas County & Wood County, Ohio Schedule:
1st Shift
  • Monday
  • Friday Hours vary based on appointment needs between 7:00 AM
  • 6:00
PM Anticipated Hours:
20
  • 25 hours Responsibilities include supporting and advocating for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities during medical appointments to live their best lives: Accompany individuals to medical appointments Advocate for individual's needs, ensuring their voice is heard Communicate effectively with doctors, nurses, and healthcare staff Ask questions, gather key medical information, and relay details to the care team Provide behavioral support as needed during appointments Ensure comfort, safety, and understanding throughout visits Accurately document appointment outcomes and important updates Required Qualifications you need to thrive in this role: : Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities (DD experience required) Experience supporting individuals with behavioral needs Strong communication, organization, and advocacy skills High school diploma or GED Must be 18 years or older Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (fewer than 6 points) Ability to lift and transfer individuals weighing up to 50 pounds Proof of auto insurance Ability to pass BCI/FBI background checks and required screenings Perks & Benefits Opportunity for overtime Paid time off Attendance bonus 401(k) with employer match Life & disability insurance Car repair fund & car rental assistance Pay advances Employee Assistance Program Referral bonus up to $500 About the Epilepsy Center of Northwest Ohio The Epilepsy Center of Northwest Ohio is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by epilepsy and developmental disabilities.
