Job Overview Join our dedicated team as a Direct Support Professional in Adult Day Services, where your compassionate care and energetic approach will make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with developmental and cognitive disabilities. In this vital role, you will provide personalized support, foster independence, and promote social engagement for adults with diverse needs. Your enthusiasm and commitment will help create a positive, inclusive environment that empowers clients to thrive and reach their full potential. Duties Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, grooming, and mobility support Facilitate engaging recreational activities that promote social skills, independence, and community participation Provide behavioral health support by implementing behavior management strategies tailored to individual needs Support communication efforts using various methods such as American Sign Language (ASL) or other augmentative communication tools Operate standard passenger cars safely to transport clients to appointments, community outings, or home visits Collect and document data related to client progress, behavior patterns, and activity participation for ongoing assessment Ensure client safety by adhering to health and safety protocols, including first aid and CPR procedures when necessary Experience Prior experience working with individuals with autism, neurodevelopmental disorders, or developmental disabilities is highly preferred Background in special education or behavioral health services enhances your ability to support diverse needs effectively Familiarity with home and community care settings demonstrates your versatility in providing comprehensive support Experience assisting with ADLs and supporting clients with cognitive disabilities is essential for success in this role Strong communication skills, including client communication and documentation expertise, are vital for building trust and ensuring quality care Knowledge of behavioral management techniques and experience working with patients with intellectual disabilities will help you excel in this position Valid driver's license with experience operating a passenger car is required for transportation duties This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a tangible difference while developing valuable skills in social services, caregiving, and client support.
