Job Description

Description:
Horizon Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been operating in Umatilla County since 1977. We support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes (24/7 support) and in the community. We're looking for reliable caregivers that prioritize quality client care and support the clients at their jobs. No prior experience or certifications are required. Experience may be considered when discussing starting pay.
Pay Scale:
$16
  • $22 per hour. Starting pay is $16
  • $18.
50 depending on experience. +$1 per hour when job coaching with a client.
Schedule:
Monday
  • Friday, 8AM-4PM (40 hrs per week)
  • occasional weekend or evening hours are required
  • Essential Responsibilities and Duties include: Plan fun and engaging activities for clients that meet their personal goals Take clients on outings into the community (bowling, county fair, etc) Teach client job skills and support their search for equal employment Support clients at their job (job coaching) so they can be successful and earn a competitive wage Help clients use the restroom and maintain personal hygiene Accurately give clients their medications at the prescribed time and dosage Remain on task in a busy or chaotic environment Follow safety and emergency protocols to ensure client health and wellbeing Document client medication and daily activities on Therap via a computer Use adaptive equipment and wheelchair vans to transport clients as needed (company vehicle provided) Work cooperatively with a team
Important Skills:
Basic computer skills (Typing, email, printer/copier). Strong communication in English (reading, writing, speaking) Ability to remain calm in a chaotic environment Teamwork and creative thinking Punctuality and organization

5x pay for working on holidays
Requirements:
Must be over the age of 18 years old Must pass a pre-employment drug test Must pass a pre-employment driving records screening Must maintain a clean driving record during your employment Must have a valid driver's license that is insurable by HPI's auto insurance provider (Driving Required Position) Must pass a pre-employment background check by Oregon DHS ( Must maintain a clean background check (background check renewed every 2 years, or more frequently as dictated by ODHS) Must be able to communicate effectively in English Physical Demands Position is active in nature. Must be able to monitor and observe the activities of program participants. Regularly move about or position self to supervise and interact with participants at their level. Occasionally lift, transport, position, push/pull or move up to 50 pounds using proper lifting techniques. Must be sufficiently mobile and possess a range of motion to perform repetitive standing, walking, balancing, stooping, bending, crouching, crawling, sitting on the floor, reaching, squatting, kneeling, and twisting. Ability to react quickly to the physical actions of program participant. Administrative and supervisory activities will require ability to operate keyboard-driven equipment. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Sufficiently mobile to attend activities and meetings within the Umatilla County. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
