Working under the day-to-day direction of the Managing Employer, the SSP helps the individual pursue goals identified in the Individual Support Plan (ISP), increase independence, maintain health and safety, and participate meaningfully at home and in the community. The SSP must respect the individual's choices, rights, privacy, culture, and preferred routines. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide only the services and supports authorized in the individual's ISP and assigned by the Managing Employer.
  • Support the individual with daily living, personal care, household routines, communication, decision-making, relationship-building, skill development, and community participation, as applicable to the assignment.
  • Encourage choice, self-direction, and independence by supporting the individual to do as much as possible for themselves.
  • Follow person-specific health, safety, behavioral, communication, accessibility, and emergency support instructions.
  • Assist with transportation or accompany the individual in the community when required by the assignment and permitted by agency requirements.
  • Complete accurate and timely service documentation, electronic visit verification, time records, mileage records, and other required records.
  • Report incidents, suspected abuse or neglect, injuries, medication concerns, service concerns, and changes in health or safety according to agency and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries in the individual's home, family environment, and community.
  • Communicate respectfully and promptly with the individual, Managing Employer, and designated Agency With Choice staff.
  • Complete all required orientation, annual training, and person-specific training within established timeframes.
  • Follow The Arc's policies, the individual's ISP, applicable Office of Developmental Programs requirements, and all relevant laws and regulations Preferred Experience Experience in direct support, caregiving, home care, education, childcare, behavioral health, customer service, volunteer work, or another role requiring patience, dependability, and respectful communication is helpful.
Previous disability-services experience is welcomed but is not required when the applicant demonstrates the right values, judgment, and willingness to learn. Additional Details
