JOB SUMMARY

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides hands-on support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in home and community settings. DSPs assist with daily living activities, skill development, and advocacy to promote independence, safety, and quality of life.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Perform all duties in alignment with MyAbility's mission, vision, and values. Attend and complete mandatory trainings and staff meetings Assist with identifying support needs and implementing Person-Centered Plans (PCP) and Behavior Support Plans (BSP). Review and acknowledge all plans related to individual care annually or as updated. Maintain positive relationships with families, guardians and ISP team. Document observations using Daily Service Notes Form Safeguard individuals' funds. Provide or assist with personal care (tooth-brushing, toileting, bathing, dressing, feeding) as needed. Perform household tasks (vacuuming, laundry, shopping, mopping, meal preparation) as needed. Transport individuals to appointments and community activities as desired. Advocate for individuals in home and community settings. Plan and support recreational and community activities. Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations. Provide crisis support and implement solutions to ensure safety. Report incidents per ODP Incident Management bulletin and agency guidelines.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Understanding of person-centered care and support strategies. Ability to assist with personal care and medication administration. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and confidentiality Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Organizational and time-management abilities. Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards. Basic computer skills for documentation.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

: Minimum age 18 High School Diploma or GED required; college degree preferred. 2-3 years of experience in a related field preferred. Experience working with people with developmental disabilities or Autism CPR and First Aid certifications preferred (or willingness to obtain). Valid driver's license required; Must pass state criminal record clearance and, if applicable, FBI clearance. Ongoing in-service training as mandated. $17.00 - $21.00 per hour
