Working as a Direct Support Professional within a private duty setting , you will be providing direct support for a non-verbal, 29-year-old man. In this position, you will assist him to engage in day to day activities. These activities include, but are not limited to, self care and most ADLs. You will at times, assist with med management and utilize his augmentative and alternative communication (AAC ) to increase communication. You will have to physically assist with some ADLs such as toileting. During the day, the Individual enjoys music, supervising cooking and chores, remote control cars, making art, short outings in his van and hanging out with peers. If you have experience and enjoy doing the activities mentioned above, this position may be for you! We have a small but excellent team supporting him at the moment, we are looking to build with a few more DSPs.
Experienced caregivers will:
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of the job with respect to: seizure management, autism, conflict resolution, basic restrictive procedures/ holds for safety, AAC for total communication.
- Present a quiet and calm environment throughout the shift.
- Be responsible for vigilant monitoring of the health concerns and safety and welfare of individual at all times.
- Be responsible for establishing and maintaining a daily pattern by consistently facilitating the individual's individual support plan (ISP).
- Provide assistance and/or supervision to the individual in the areas of healthcare management.
- Serve as a member of the team for the development of ISP. Give feedback on the individual's performance in accomplishing goals and objectives of the ISP.
- Communicate detailed information consistently and will be responsible for documenting incidents on appropriate forms and verbally relaying information to the Managing Employer.
- Demonstrate basic knowledge to assure a safe and healthy environment for all residents.
- Demonstrate recognition of, and properly report suspected abuse and neglect.
- Perform all other duties as assigned. This may include performing detailed nightly housekeeping chores, sanitizing and upkeep of the premises for cleanliness and health during each and every shift.. You MUST…
- Be willing to follow all CDC, state, and local Health guidelines.
- Have a High School Diploma or GED, Some College Coursework preferred.
- Be 21 years of age or older.
- Have a valid driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle, and clean driving record. Please be aware that a stringent background check will be conducted. Candidate must be available to work Monday and Tuesday evening shifts. 3PM
