10 hours a week requirement. Job Summary The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities or special needs. This position involves providing compassionate care and support to clients in various settings, including home and community environments. The DSP will assist with daily living activities, promote independence, and ensure the safety and well-being of clients. Duties Assist clients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management. Provide support for individuals with autism, dementia, and other developmental disabilities. Monitor patient health and behavior, reporting any changes to healthcare professionals. Engage clients in recreational activities to promote socialization and skill development. Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a safe and clean environment. Assist with heavy lifting as needed for client mobility or transfers. Maintain accurate documentation of client progress and care provided. Collaborate with family members, caregivers, and other professionals to develop personalized care plans. Qualifications Previous experience in assisted living, home community care, or long-term care settings is preferred. Certification in First Aid and CPR is highly desirable. Knowledge of patient monitoring techniques and dementia care practices is a plus. Ability to lift heavy objects safely and assist clients with mobility needs. Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with clients and their families. A compassionate attitude towards working with individuals with disabilities or special needs. Flexibility to adapt to changing situations and client needs. A valid driver's license may be required depending on the job location.
