Job Description
UPMC is seeking a Direct Support Professional - Vocational to support adults with disabilities in achieving greater independence and community inclusion. In this role, you will provide person-centered vocational and daily living support, assist with on-the-job coaching, and reinforce individual service plans in community and program settings. Responsibilities include documentation, promoting safety and dignity, collaborating with clinical teams and families, and using approved strategies to manage challenging behaviors. Responsibilities Support individuals with disabilities in vocational and day program settings Implement person-centered care and individual service plans Teach and coach daily living and job-readiness skills Ensure client safety, dignity, and community inclusion Document services, progress notes, and incident reports accurately Collaborate with clinical, case management, and family teams Assist with transportation, scheduling, and on-site supports Manage challenging behaviors using approved techniques Maintain compliance with UPMC, state, and regulatory policies Participate in required training and ongoing professional development Required Skills Person-centered support planning Vocational coaching and job readiness training Behavior management techniques Documentation and recordkeeping Basic computer and electronic health record use Safety and crisis prevention practices Communication with interdisciplinary teams Time management and scheduling Community integration and travel training Basic first aid and emergency response
