Employer:

I am a 39-year-old woman with a medical diagnosis that has left me with no use of my legs and minimal use of my upper body, but I have no cognitive/developmental disability. With the use of my power wheelchair and the support of a team of PCA staff, I live in the community and work full-time, as well as managing all of my own care. I am seeking a female PCA/Personal Care Attendant to provide direct care to me in my home through my state-funded Self-Directed Supports plan. The ideal candidate is personable and capable of providing care in a natural home/community environment rather than a structured facility setting. They must also be aware and respectful of the fact that, as a capable adult, I am in control of my own life and will continue to be responsible for determining/directing our activities each day as we work together.

A typical shift involves:

personal care including toileting, dressing, etc. transfers with a ceiling-mounted electric Hoyer repositioning in bed, shower chair, and wheelchair light housework and laundry meal prep some care for my 3 small dogs (both are under 15 lbs, house-trained, and not a bite risk) assisting with work tasks (no computer skills or prior experience required for this) transporting/accompanying on errands

Job Requirements:

Candidates for this position must: have previous experience, either professionally or personally, as a caregiver for a person needing significant physical assistance (formal certification such as

CNA, RN, LPN

is not required) be reliable and punctual be capable of repositioning a person weighing approximately 105 pounds without assistance (lifting is not required, a hoyer lift/hoist is used for transfers) have reliable transportation (please note that I do not live on a major bus route and public transit is therefore not an ideal option) be comfortable with dogs/pets have a valid driver's license and reasonably clear driving record have no felony convictions on their BCI be willing to drive my wheelchair-accessible minivan In addition, I would prefer the ideal candidate: have experience using a hoyer lift of any kind (experience with the specific model of hoyer I use is not required and training will be provided as necessary) have their own reliable vehicle have a clean BCI be flexible/able to adjust shift times slightly when I request it with prior notice, within reasonable expectations

Compensation and Hours:

Pay for this position is $28 per hour. I currently have the following shifts available:

Friday:

9am-5pm

OPTIONAL

Saturday 8am-5pm

OPTIONAL

Monday-Friday, 7am-9a Fill-in hours and additional shifts are also available on occasion.
