Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Personal Care Assistant to provide high-quality support to individuals in a community or residential setting in Honea Path. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to patient well-being, excellent communication skills, and experience working with diverse populations, including seniors, individuals with disabilities, or those requiring specialized care such as dementia or autism. As a Personal Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in assisting clients with daily activities, ensuring their safety, and promoting independence through personalized care. Responsibilities Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to promote comfort and dignity. Monitor patients' health status by observing vital signs, mental state, and overall condition; report any concerns promptly to healthcare professionals. Support medication administration in accordance with care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance. Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption when necessary. Facilitate patient transfers using appropriate methods such as Hoyer lifts or manual handling techniques while ensuring safety. Maintain cleanliness of the living environment by performing light housekeeping tasks and adhering to infection control standards. Provide transportation assistance for appointments or community outings, promoting social engagement and independence. Document care activities accurately in client records and communicate effectively with team members regarding patient progress or changes. Skills Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health settings is highly desirable. Knowledge of patient observation techniques, vital signs measurement, and medication administration protocols. Familiarity with dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, and supporting individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism. Proficiency in using patient transfer methods including Hoyer lifts and understanding patient personal care assistance procedures. Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely while managing heavy lifting when necessary. Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration within diverse caregiving environments. Certification in CPR and First Aid is preferred; ongoing training in HIPAA compliance and patient privacy standards is essential.
