Must be 18 years of age, and an effective oral and written communicator. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in providing care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, dementia, and other special needs. We support members with the design, delivery, and management personalized treatment plans to help them achieve their developmental goals and lead their best lives. Responsibilities /
Job Duties:
  • Assist members with activities of daily living including but not limited to: personal hygiene, dining skills, housekeeping skills, grocery shopping, social skills, and community access, etc.
  • ⁠Provide direct support to and assists consumers in training activities as specified in ISPs and activity schedules.
  • Assist with meal service, teach dining skills, and promote social skills during meals.
  • Aids in mobility as needed for those using wheelchairs and other assistive devices
  • Monitor members as they self-administer medications and treatments according to company policy.
  • Assists in bedroom maintenance and teaches housekeeping skills and care of clothing.
  • Monitors members' activities to ensure that safety and health care practices are observed.
  • Ensures the wellbeing at all times of the member(s) assigned under your care and that Universal Precaution Practices are observed.
  • Attends and successfully completes in-service training sessions as scheduled
  • Assist members with mobility needs and transportation as needed.
  • Complete data collection, observation notes, and daily reports as directed by agency policy and procedures.
  • ⁠Participates as a member of the Individual Support Team giving input toward the member's ISP.
  • Treat members with dignity and respect.
  • Promote independence, choice, and empowerment of members. Requirements
  • Must be eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Satisfactory completion of criminal background checks as required by federal and/or state laws and any other post-offer, pre-employment screenings as mandated by a governing agency or the company.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with individuals and their families.
  • Knowledge of working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or dementia.
  • Ability to cook and prepare meals according to dietary requirements.
  • Compassionate and patient demeanor.
  • A high school education or its equivalent is preferred.
  • Some previous experience in supporting/assisting those with disabilities is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and a good driving record is preferred.
  • Certification in CPR is a plus.
Pay:
$15.00 per hour
