This rewarding role offers an opportunity to provide essential assistance in a variety of settings, including home health, assisted living, nursing homes, and memory care facilities. As a Personal Care Assistant, you will deliver respectful, personalized care that promotes independence, dignity, and well-being for those you serve. This position is paid and designed for motivated individuals eager to foster positive impacts through dedicated caregiving. Responsibilities Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to ensure comfort and hygiene. Support residents with mobility and transfers using proper patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts or manual handling techniques. Monitor patient health by observing vital signs, reporting changes, and maintaining accurate care plans aligned with medical guidance. Administer medications safely following HIPAA regulations and medication protocols under supervision or as trained. Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs and assist with meal consumption when necessary. Conduct patient observation to detect changes in condition or behavior, especially in dementia or Alzheimer's care settings. Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and ensuring infection control standards are met. Provide transportation assistance for appointments or community activities using personal transportation methods. Communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare teams to coordinate care plans and update on client progress. Support hospice or palliative care needs with empathy and professionalism during sensitive times. Experience Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments preferred. Knowledge of dementia care, memory care, Alzheimer's support, and neurodevelopmental disorders enhances your ability to deliver specialized assistance. Hands-on experience with patient monitoring tools such as vital signs measurement and patient personal care assistance is highly valued. Familiarity with manual handling equipment like Hoyer lifts and patient transfer techniques ensures safe mobility support. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or intellectual disabilities supports inclusive caregiving practices. Certification in First Aid and CPR is required; additional training in HIPAA compliance and medication administration is advantageous. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when required for patient transfers or equipment handling. Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams.
