This position focuses on enhancing the quality of life for clients by promoting independence, dignity, and personal growth. The DSP works closely with clients in various settings, including home environment (group home), day support center, and the community ensuring their needs are met while adhering to Individual Service Plans and maintaining a safe and clean environment. Duties

• Assist clients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration.
• Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's specific needs and goals.
• Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance clients' social interactions.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by following health and safety protocols.
• Document daily activities, progress, and any changes in client behavior or condition in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other caregivers to ensure comprehensive care.
• Engage clients in recreational activities that promote physical and mental well-being. Skills
• Effective time management skills, ability to multi-task
• Ability to perform basic math, reading, and problem solving.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbal, manuscript and typewritten text to interact positively with clients, families, and team members..
• Proficiency to use the computer , internet and document electronic type-written notes.
• Experience in working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Knowledge of supporting individuals in ADL's , in a day support and group home setting.
• Proficiency in direct support techniques and medication administration.
• Understanding of HIPAA regulations to maintain client confidentiality.
• Ability and willingness to perform tasks with minimal direct supervision and to accept supervision and constructive feedback.
• A compassionate demeanor with a commitment to enhancing the lives of individuals in care.
• Ability to pass and maintain CPR/First Aid, Medication Assistance, Medicaid Waiver Certification, and DSP Core Competencies Requirements
• At least 18 years old
• High school diploma or GED
• Must be in good physical health and able to perform physically demanding tasks and move/stand for prolonged periods
• Pass a comprehensive background check ,
• including a criminal history check, a Virginia State Police and DSS Central Registry check, and potentially a driving record check. _Candidate must be in compliance with the law

• A clear Tuberculosis Test (Negative)
• A valid driver's license & insured vehicle, without restrictions, Ability to transport individuals in standard vehicle (Group Home) or 16 passenger van (Day Support) within the community
