Position:
Personal Care Assistant /
Homemaker Job Type:
Part-Time to Full-Time, with Backup Aide opportunities
Pay Scale:
$13 - $23 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)
Supervisor:
Supervising Nurse, Risk, and Administrator Exposure to
Bloodborne Pathogens:
High Key Responsibilities Follow the Plan of Care to help clients maintain personal hygiene and a safe, healthful home environment Perform only the functions specified for each individual client Receive and follow written instructions from the supervisor Understand and adhere to agency policies and procedures Complete orientation and training on all aspects of care provided to clients Assist with Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs), including: Household chores such as light housekeeping, cooking, shopping assistance, and laundry Personal assistance with bathing in areas the client cannot reach, dressing, hair combing, shaving (electric razor), and denture care Mobility assistance, including stabilization while walking Meal preparation and dietary support Arranging for medical and dental care, including transportation to and from appointments Providing social interaction and companionship Transporting clients to community activities and essential errands Document observations and services in the client's record Report any changes in the client's mental or physical condition to the supervisor Job Conditions Must have reliable transportation to access clients' homes, which may not be wheelchair accessible Must have sufficient hearing, eyesight, and physical dexterity to perform client assessments and care services Occasionally required to bend, stoop, reach, and move client weight up to 250 lbs; lift and/or carry up to 30 lbs Must be able to communicate clearly in verbal and written form Equipment Operation Blood Pressure (BP) cuff, thermometer, and stethoscope Proper handwashing and hygiene materials Confidentiality Caregivers will have access to confidential client medical records, which may only be discussed with a supervisor Qualifications Completion of at least the ninth grade; high school diploma or equivalent preferred Free from health conditions that may be injurious to the client, self, or co-workers (proof required) Understanding of the basics of IADLs, housekeeping, and meal preparation Respect for clients' privacy and confidentiality, with adherence to ethical caregiving standards Ability to understand, read, and write English Criminal background check required Why Join Our Team Make a meaningful impact by serving others with compassion and integrity Flexible work opportunities with part-time, full-time, and backup aide positions available Competitive pay ranging from $13 - $23 per hour based on experience and certifications Supportive and mission-driven work environment All staff in this position must have a Personal Care Assistant Certificate or higher. You can get this certificate from free from us to start working soon after you finish the training. It can take up to 5 days. No pay is giving during this period. Your certificate will remain on file with us. The $150 fee for internal staff is waived if you remain with us for 6 months with consistent satisfactory performance at least 20 hours per week.
