Overview We are seeking an intelligent, reliable and compassionate part-time Direct Support Professional to provide companionship and assistance for our daughter, K. K has a seizure disorder. She has a huge heart for everyone around her and enjoys her time doing arts and crafts, puzzling, journaling or watching her favorite shows and movies. She has a passion for learning and enjoys visiting museums or historical sites. She loves expressing herself through laughter, music, dancing and performing in front of an audience. The ideal person would be patient, very attentive, trustworthy, and comfortable responding appropriately if a seizure occurs. Experience caring for someone with a seizure disorder or other medical needs would be ideal, but we are willing to provide additional information and training to the right person.

Responsibilities Include:

Providing companionship and close supervision Supporting daily activities as needed Preparing simple, nutritious meals or snacks in accordance with dietary plans and assist during meal times to promote independence Assist with basic hygiene and bathroom needs Monitoring for signs of a seizure and following her established seizure-response plan Support medication and supplements administration following proper protocols and document all care activities accurately Monitor vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse and temperature to track health status and report any concerns promptly Maintaining a calm, safe and supportive environment Communicating with family members regarding any concerns or changes Schedule We offer a variety of weekday and weekend shifts between 12PM and 9PM. Applicants are encouraged to apply even if they are available for only a portion of those hours, although we do request a minimum of 4 hours per shift. Requirements 18 years or older Must be able to pass a background check Must be able to respond swiftly during emergencies Reliable, punctual, and strong attention to detail Positive mindset/energy and enthusiasm Comfortable with physical activity, community outings and creative projects Crisis Management and Response (CMRT) Certified Proficiency in CPR/AED/First-Aid Certification To apply, please submit your resume, cover letter with two references and availability.
