Floater:
Provide specialized support to clients who possess a range of intellectual disabilities. This specialized team supports clients who may exhibit sexualized and/or aggressive behaviors, or who have pending charges/convictions associated with the adult protective services, child protective services, or the sex offender registry.
Note:
While this is the primary focus of the public safety team, you will also support clients who do not require these specialized interventions, and may have other support needs like personal care.
Ideal Qualifications & Interests:
We want to hear from you if you are interested in or have experience with: Implementing behavior support plans Probation, parole, and court procedures Vermont Act 248 Risk assessment and crisis de-escalation
Responsibilities:
Initiate constructive activities that address goals on a client's Individual Support Agreement (treatment plan) Facilitate community inclusion, daily living, and skill acquisition Utilization of sound judgement and maintenance of calm demeanor during crisis Provide needed behavioral and/or mental health support Provide needed personal and/or medical care Work with a variety of clients each day with a rotating schedule
Requirements:
High School Degree or equivalent 2-3 years of Experience in a human services or combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skill has been acquired Enjoy being physically active and have knowledge of Chittenden County resources Experience using de-escalation techniques Valid driver's License, use of a personal vehicle, and an acceptable driving record
Structure:
Travel as required for client needs, appointments, and for pick-up/drop-off AFSCME Union (dues will apply) Non exempt Full and part time options, with varied schedules Starting at $22.52 an hour We offer a competitive salary commensurate to experience
