Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Laboratory Technician, where your expertise will play a vital role in delivering accurate and timely laboratory results that support patient diagnosis and treatment. This energetic position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, utilizing your laboratory skills to contribute directly to patient care. You will perform a variety of laboratory procedures, handle specimens with precision, and collaborate closely with healthcare professionals to ensure the highest standards of accuracy and safety. Duties Conduct laboratory tests and procedures using established techniques and protocols to analyze biological samples. Collect, process, and handle specimens such as blood, urine, and tissue samples with meticulous attention to aseptic techniques and safety standards. Perform venipuncture (blood sampling) and specimen collection for various tests, ensuring patient comfort and specimen integrity. Enter data accurately into Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, maintaining detailed documentation of all laboratory activities. Assist in patient care by monitoring vital signs when necessary and providing compassionate support during specimen collection or other procedures. Follow strict laboratory procedures, including specimen handling, labeling, storage, and disposal to prevent contamination or errors. Maintain a clean, organized work environment while adhering to safety protocols such as Basic Life Support (BLS), CPR, and infection control practices. Skills Proficiency in laboratory techniques including blood sampling, specimen processing, and aseptic methods. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and clinical laboratory practices across diverse patient populations including pediatrics and geriatrics. Experience with hospital-based laboratory work environments and familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for data entry and record keeping. Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately during specimen collection or patient interactions. Ability to perform venipuncture (blood draws), handle specimens carefully, and manage heavy lifting when necessary for sample transport or equipment setup. Knowledge of laboratory procedures specific to blood sampling, specimen handling, and diagnostic testing processes. Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a team setting while maintaining high standards of accuracy and safety in a fast-paced hospital environment.
