Job Description

Position:
Lab Assistant/MA Job Summary:
Under close supervision, performs research activities and other tasks as necessary in a laboratory environment.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None Safety Sensitive Role:
Yes Duties/Responsibilities:
Assist lab technicians in loading and unloading specimens on analyzers. Clean, disinfect and maintain cleanrooms and equipment. Assist with receipt and inspection of raw materials. Store samples in storage racks when completed. Stock materials and equipment. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Must satisfactorily complete the on-the-job training provided by the Phlebotomy/Accession Lab Supervisor during a probationary period unless extension is granted by the laboratory manager. Good communication skills. Knowledge of medical terminology and certification for CPR preferred.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or the equivalent. Previous experience or education in a health-related field helpful. 0-1+ years of experience as Phlebotomist or Medical Assistant preferred
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Ability to move 30 to 40 pounds to stock supplies and move or support patients.
