JOB DESCRIPTION JOB SUMMARY

Under direct supervision, conducts routine tests in clinical laboratories for use in treatment and diagnosis of diseases.

Yes Duties/Responsibilities:

Prepare specimens for microscope examination using standard techniques and equipment. Perform testing and reports test results in urinalysis, hematology and chemistry. Perform diagnostic testing on patient samples to aid physicians in the diagnosis and/or monitoring of various disease states. Prepare slides as necessary for microscopic analysis in hematology. Analyze test results for accuracy, acceptability and critical limits. Follow quality control policies and documents quality control activities. Maintain instruments and equipment. Call critical values to providers per policy. Resolve pending reports at end of shift. Perform other duties as assigned. Observes laboratory and hospital policies, procedures, and safety practices.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

Associate degree in related field preferred. Graduation from an accredited MLT program required. Eligible for ASCP or AMT certification required.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
