Work under the supervision of a lab supervisor and may be involved in engineering construction inspections, sampling, and testing of materials like concrete, asphalt, and steel. Schedule:

Primarily days; 1 rotating night shift (approx. 1 month total, shared among team) Position Overview We are seeking a motivated Laboratory Technicians to support structures and materials testing within a high-volume ADOT laboratory environment. This role is heavily field-oriented and involves aggregate handling, sample preparation, and structural materials testing. Ideal candidates are hands-on, reliable, and eager to learn and grow in construction materials testing. Key Responsibilities Aggregate Handling & Sampling Maintain and refresh aggregate stockpiles used for concrete batch plant operations Perform stockpile mixing (?purging?) to ensure representative material consistency Collect samples by flattening piles, selecting representative material, and transporting to lab Sample sand materials (often wet), including digging to appropriate depth (~1 ft) Structures Laboratory Testing Perform testing on structural materials including: Reinforcing steel (rebar) Guardrail components (nuts, bolts, posts) Fence posts and related hardware Glass beads and specialty materials Conduct concrete compressive strength testing (breaks) Weigh, record, and document test samples accurately Follow all ADOT and ASTM testing procedures Qualifications Required ATTI Field Certification (Soils & Aggregates acceptable) per client specifications ACI Field Certification Per client specifications Ability to perform physically demanding work (lifting, digging, outdoor work) Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow procedures Reliable transportation and consistent attendance Prior experience in materials testing or construction inspection Familiarity with ADOT or ASTM testing standards CEI is an Equal Opportunity Employer, including disability and veterans.
